Celebration has always marked its birthday on November 12. The Celebration Foundation traces that date to 1996, when the downtown was completed. The first family had already moved into the first village on June 18 of that year. Thirty years later, the town is holding the anniversary on Saturday, November 7. The date isn't the only change. This year's Founders Day also includes the Veterans Day parade, a town photo, and a free evening concert in one long day.
Moving the date pulls the season together. Rocktoberfest in October is the opening, the Tree Lighting and Now Snowing are the close, and the event built for people who live here comes first on the November calendar instead of near Thanksgiving.
Why the Date Matters More Than the Lineup
November 12 falls on a Thursday this year. Moving the celebration to the Saturday before puts it next to Veterans Day, so the town is holding both on one morning. Celebration Town Hall's schedule starts with a Veterans Day Parade from Lakeside Park to Founders Park, then a Veterans Day Ceremony at Founders Park, then a 30th Anniversary Town Photo.
The town photo is the part only this year has. It sits on the schedule right after the ceremony, and the event copy calls the day a way of "commemorating 30 years of neighbors and community." If you want to be in the picture, leave yourself time after the parade.
The anniversary also didn't start in November. Town Hall ran a 30th Anniversary Logo Hunt in March. November 7 is the big finish of a year that started in the spring.
The Morning Schedule Depends on Which Page You Read
The two official listings don't agree on morning times. Here is what each one says right now:
| Event | Celebration Town Hall | Celebration Town Center |
|---|---|---|
| Veterans Day Parade, Lakeside Park to Founders Park | 10:30 a.m. | Morning |
| Veterans Day Ceremony at Founders Park | 11:00 a.m. | 10:00 a.m. |
| 30th Anniversary Town Photo | 11:45 a.m. | 11:00 a.m. |
Town Hall's Parks and Recreation Department is running the event, and its page says the schedule is still being updated and may change. Go by the Town Hall page, and check it again the week before. Parks and Recreation takes questions at [email protected] or 407-566-1200. Anyone who wants to march can find a parade application on the same page.
The Evening Belongs to the Year 2000
The evening runs from 5 to 10 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public, with Kid Zone inflatables and food and beverage tents. Here is the order:
- 5:00 p.m. DJ Bubbles opens.
- 7:00 p.m. Pop2000 Concert featuring Chris Kirkpatrick of *NSYNC, O-Town, Ryan Cabrera and LFO, with free standing room.
- 8:30 p.m. DJ Bubbles returns.
- 9:20 p.m. Drone show presented by AdventHealth, featuring Dronisos.
- 9:30 p.m. Ryan Cabrera closes the night with a guest DJ set.
The lineup suits a town that is turning 30. Kids who grew up here at the turn of the century are now adults, and this is their era's music. The drone show sponsor ties back to the town's founding too. Florida Hospital, now AdventHealth, developed and still runs the hospital that started as Celebration Health. Robert A.M. Stern's firm designed that building as one of the town's first key amenities.
Seating is the one thing you need to plan for. Standing room is free. Premium tables and single seats are limited, and you'll need a photo ID that matches the name on the registration to check in. If you're buying a seat for a guest, register it in the name of the person who will actually show up. Town Hall's page doesn't list ticket prices or table package details, so contact Parks and Recreation for those.
October Opens the Season on Market Street
Before the anniversary, there's the 20th Annual Rocktoberfest on Friday, October 16, and Saturday, October 17. It's a lakeside festival on Market Street with hayrides, live music, and falling leaves. Admission and parking are free.
Leaves fall at 7, 8 and 9 p.m. both nights. Frequency and Lovestruck Robot play Friday, and Audio Exchange with Jonnie Morgan plays Saturday. Lexin Celebration Commercial, LLC presents the festival, and The Celebration Town Tavern is a sponsor. With 20 years behind it, Rocktoberfest is one of the steadier traditions downtown. Disney sold the downtown to private investors in January 2004, nearly 23 years ago.
If you're hosting relatives in October, the 8 p.m. leaf drop makes an easy plan: dinner downtown first, then the lakefront. You can also plan around the Sunday farmers market, which runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 603 Market Street.
After the Anniversary, the Town Turns to Snow
Three weeks after Founders Day, Celebration Town Center holds its Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 28, from 5 to 9:30 p.m. at 701 Front Street. Now Snowing also starts that night. Visit Orlando lists it as a free nightly event with snowfall, an ice rink, Santa photos, carriage and train rides, carolers and performances.
Here too, the listings disagree. Visit Orlando gives the run as November 28 through December 31, 6 to 9:30 p.m. Celebration Town Center's events calendar ends it on December 30, and one detail box on its Now Snowing page shows an 11 p.m. time while the description says 6 p.m. If you're planning around the last night, confirm the final date with the organizers before booking guests for New Year's Eve.
Put the dates side by side and the shape of the season is clear. Rocktoberfest comes in mid-October, the anniversary is November 7, and the holiday run starts November 28. Founders Day on its usual November 12 would have landed in the middle of the holiday setup. On November 7 it gets a weekend to itself.
The Festivals Waiting for 2027
Two of the bigger festivals are scheduled for spring, outside the anniversary season.
The pie festival is the one with the deepest roots here. The American Pie Council's festival was in its tenth year in Celebration by 2011. That year, the festival ran in downtown Celebration while the Council's championships were held in Orlando. In May, Visit Celebration and the Celebration Foundation announced the festival's return in 2027 as the Celebration Pie Festival, set in Celebration Town Center with pie tastings, baking competitions, local vendors and live music. Celebration Town Center lists it for April 17 and 18, 2027. Visit Celebration's own event page shows April 18. The organizers say vendor, sponsorship and ticket details are still to come.
The Celebration Exotic Car Festival is also in spring, listed for April 2 through 4, 2027. With both large spring events two weeks apart, Founders Day is the main event of the fall.
There's one more thing to watch along Market Street. Celebration Town Center's shopping directory marks two spaces as "Coming Soon," 605 Market Street #150 and 606 Market Street. Neither listing names a tenant or an opening date yet. Meanwhile, the dining directory still lists familiar names like Celebration Town Tavern and Columbia Restaurant.
Michael Crawford and the team at Core4 Group have followed Celebration through many Founders Days. If you're bringing family in for the November 7 anniversary or the start of Now Snowing, we're glad to share where we'd watch the drone show and when we'd head downtown. Book a Consultation and we'll help you plan the weekend.
